INTRODUCTION OF TRUCK TOLLS IN GERMANY
EFFECTIVE 1 JANUARY 2005 |
As you will be aware from numerous media reports, the Federal Office for Freight Transport granted the consortium Toll Collect an operating licence for Germanys truck toll collection system in december 2004. Effective January 2005, tolls are being charged in accordance with the Motorway Toll Act, which came into force in April 2002, and the ordinance on toll charges passed by the federal government.
Our contract freight forwarders invoice us for the costs associated with the toll, and regrettably we cannot avoid passing these costs, which were introduced as a result of government action, on to our customers. |
| The cost is calculated with respect to postal code regions and in accordance with the vehicle weight and the distance travelled. Our point of reference in this regard is a list of toll charges for consolidated freight transport issued by the Bonn-based Vereinigung der Sammelgutspediteure im BSL. The PDF file below contains a table of the applicable toll charges. |
| The new toll charges are based on the increased fees of the federal government. |
| We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this unavoidable development and look forward to continuing our fruitful partnership. |
